Introduction
This course offers a comprehensive exploration of our solar system and the current and proposed missions to explore it. Students will learn about the unique characteristics of each planet and the Sun, including their composition, atmosphere, and geological features. They will also gain an understanding of the history and evolution of our Solar System.
Current Missions
The course covers current and past space missions, including NASA’s Juno and New Horizons missions, as well as the Mars rovers and landers. Students will examine the data collected by these missions and gain insight into the challenges and triumphs of space exploration..
Proposed Missions
Additionally, students will explore proposed missions to our solar system, such as the Europa Clipper mission to study Jupiter’s moon Europa, and the Mars Sample Return mission, which aims to bring samples of Martian rock and soil back to Earth for analysis
Course Objectives
Throughout the course, students will develop critical thinking skills and engage in hands-on activities to deepen their understanding of our solar system and the ongoing exploration of space. By the end of the course, students will have a comprehensive understanding of the planets in our solar system and the current and proposed missions to study them.
