Artemis Westenberg

A space exploration advocate and the President of Explore Mars.
She has a masters in History as well as in Islam, with minors in Women’s History and in International Relations. She also has 30+ years experience as Educator and thesis-coach.

She has served as a Steering Committee member for the Mars Society Inc and an expert on Mars, e.g. the geology of Mars and NASA’s Curiosity, Opportunity & Spirit, and ESA's Mars Express. Subsequent to her work as logistics manager for the Arctic Research Station (FMARS), Artemis took on management of the Mars Analogue Stations as Mission Director where she turned the project into a completely self-sufficient and financially independent venture.
Artemis simply loves to educate and has been teaching English, Dutch as well as humanities like History, Antiquities. She has been an editor of scientific papers of university thesis.
She is passionate and dedicated to advancing the goal of sending humans to Mars and her leadership in promoting the exploration and colonization of the Red Planet.  Recently, Artemis gave a lecture on the ethics of space exploration as microbes on Mars have a right to live well and prospering too.
